A Dublin Jeweller was faced with armed raiders in his shop on Monday. The raiders were dressed in high-vis builders gear and they fled the scene with €28,000 worth of jewellery from Greenes Jewellers on Aungier Street. The staff in the shop were pinned against the wall as they were threatened by the armed men. The two raiders, one of which had a gun, burst into the family-run Jewellers at around 5pm on Monday evening. Co-owner of Greenes, Karl Ryan had a terrifying experience, whereby a gun was pointed at his head. The frigthening event all happened very quickly and according to Karl Ryan the raiders were in and out in just 30 seconds. The raiders gained access to the premises by bursting through the door and breaking the lock. One of the raiders headed straight for a cabinet, smashed it open with a crowbar and started filling up his bag. Karl was in the back of the shop when the raiders burst into the shop but he immediately came out and confronted the raiders, hurling a chair at them however he was stopped in his tracks when the raiders pointed the gun at Karl and his goldsmith who was also in the shop at the time. At that point Karl Greene had to leave the raiders to it.
