How to clean your engagement ring

Do you want to keep your jewellery clean and sparkling? Of course you do but it’s just one of those things that isn’t how-to-clean-your-engagement-ringhigh on the agenda. If the thoughts of popping into your jewellers on your day off isn’t exactly ideal, Commin’s & Co Jewelles have some convenient solutions for you.

Option 1:
Household products that you probably already have lying around the house are great for cleaning your jewellery. Club soda is brilliant for cleaning diamonds, sapphires, and any other precious gem you may have. Very simply pour a glass of club soda, drop your jewellery in, and leave it sit overnight. The following day enjoy the new sparkle on your diamonds!

Options 2:
Ketchup may sound bizarre but if you have any silver that aren’t clean you can use it to remove excess dirt. Ketchup has high acidity levels so it’s superb on grit. Apply some ketchup to an old toothbrush and give it a proper scrubbing.

Option 3:
Vodka, the crystal clear spirit can leave your diamonds equally crystal clear. It can be used on glass or anything crystalline in nature to remove dirt and as vodka is able to corrode other materials it will bring out a stunning sparkle on your jewels. Dip a cloth in vodka and clean your chosen piece of jewellery.

Option 4:
Most people are familiar with using vinegar as a cleaning agent. A little trick to make it more potent is to add baking soda into the mix. It’s fantastic on pure silver. All you have to do is soak it in ½ a cup of white vinegar with 2 tablespoons of baking soda for a few hours. They will come out looking like brand new.

Option 5:
Finally as we recommend to all our customers, buy a baby toothbrush, add some washing up liquid to boiling water. It’s a great way to bring out the sparkle. I’d personally recommend this option – simple and effective.

Happy Scrubbing!
